Book of the Week

Wonder by R.J. Palacio This is one of my favorite read aloud books. I love Wonder because it involves so many issues that my students deal with on a daily basis. This book has so many cliffhanging moments that it creates suspense in my classroom almost everyday. I love hearing the students whine: "No! Don't stop now!" If you haven't read Wonder by R.J. Palacio, you should. Besides, the movie is coming out soon and we all know that books are almost always better than the movie version.

WAISAL Volleyball Results

Our sports team made it safely to Dakar and our athletes played their best under the Senegalese sun. Both teams have played well with some extremely close games. The boys won a set against Dakar but were just edged out in the final set. The wind was really impressive this weekend and added an x-factor to every game on all three outdoor courts. Although both teams lost their games, they showed strong effort, teamwork, and perseverance! Match vs Raberto Academy

Last night, the boys middle school soccer team played a match against Raberto Academy. Raberto immediately attacked hard and the first half saw the boys down 0 - 3, but they came back to tie 3 - 3 before finally losing 4 - 5. It was a great first match of the season and everyone should be very proud of the resilience, fighting spirit, and sportsmanship seen out there on both sides of the pitch.
