Service Learning

American International School of Abuja (AISA)

At the American International School of Abuja (AISA), service learning is an important part of developing globally minded, compassionate, and socially responsible students. AISA believes that learning extends beyond the classroom and that students grow through meaningful engagement with the local community. The school’s mission and strategic vision emphasize civic literacy, cultural awareness, empathy, and community involvement.

AISA students and staff actively participate in a variety of outreach and community engagement initiatives throughout Abuja. These experiences allow students to apply leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while building relationships with members of the wider community.

Building Sustainable Local Partnerships

As AISA continues to strengthen its service-learning program, the school is actively working to build and expand partnerships with local organizations, schools, hospitals, and community groups. The goal is to create meaningful collaborations that encourage an ongoing exchange of ideas, shared learning experiences, and sustainable community impact.

Through these partnerships, AISA hopes to provide students with authentic opportunities to engage with local communities while learning from the experiences, perspectives, and expertise of community partners. This collaborative approach reflects AISA’s commitment to developing students who are empathetic, engaged, and prepared to contribute positively both locally and globally.

AISA’s service-learning initiatives continue to reflect the school’s broader educational philosophy of developing responsible global citizens who value compassion, inclusion, and active participation in their communities.

Community Partnerships and Outreach

One of AISA’s ongoing service-learning activities includes participation in Paralympic-style events with the local Blind School. Through sports, teamwork, and shared activities, students have the opportunity to build meaningful connections, promote inclusion, and celebrate the abilities and talents of all participants.

AISA also supports local schools and organizations through donation drives and community outreach initiatives. This includes donations and support for a LEA School in Durumi, helping provide educational materials and resources that contribute to student learning and well-being within the surrounding community.

In addition, AISA has participated in donation efforts supporting Garki Hospital, demonstrating the school’s commitment to supporting healthcare and community welfare initiatives in Abuja.
