Guidance Curriculum

Elementary School

In the Elementary School the counselor uses the CASEL framework to support social-emotional learning in our student population. The guidance curriculum is important as it enables the counselor to give level 1 interventions to all students.

In the elementary school the students receive guidance in the following areas:

  • Social skills

  • Conflict resolution

  • Peer-to-peer relationships

  • Bullying prevention

  • Life skills development

  • Character development

  • Mindfulness

  • Short-term academic and social-emotional counseling

  • Healthy transitions: entering and exiting AISA, elementary to middle school and kindergarten to first grade

  • Third culture kids

  • Leadership development

  • Self-awareness

  • Behavior plans

  • Goal setting

 

Middle School

In the Middle School the students receive guidance in the following areas:

  • Test-taking strategies and/or accommodations

  • Test score review and interpretation

  • College and career planning

High School Advisory Program

The high school advisory program covers a wide variety of essential topics such as:

  • Time management

  • Goal setting

  • Community service that enhances social responsibility

  • Learning styles

  • Study skills

  • High school graduation requirements

  • College planning

  • Career exploration

  • Healthy lifestyle choices

  • Stress management

  • Personal health and safety

  • Social Skills

  • Organizational skills and studying habits

  • Short-term academic and social-emotional counseling
