Sharon Juve

Grade 1 Red

Sharon Juve comes new to first grade this year to the AISA team. She taught 18 years in elementary school, both Colorado public schools in the USA and the American School of Dubai in the UAE. She adores emergent and beginner learners and looks forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing. Sharon encourages talk, collaboration and making learning fun.

Kristen Johnson

Grade 1 Blue

Ms. Kristen came to AISA from New York City, where she worked on the Operations team at an International School in Manhattan. Before moving to NYC, Ms. Kristen worked as a K-3rd grade Special Education Teacher in Washington DC Public Schools for several years. 2019-20 will will be her 4th year at AISA. Kristen has a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and Master's degree in Special Education. Outside of teaching, she loves Jazz, classic video games, a good cup of Chai, and collecting/selling/trading vinyl records! 

Kaitlyn Bradley

Grade 2 Red

Kaitlyn grew up in rural King Ferry, New York. After graduating from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Psychology, she joined Teach for America; a nonprofit with the mission of creating educational equity. Kaitlyn has enjoyed the last ten years teaching in Colorado and couldn’t be more excited to join the AISA community! In her spare time, Kaitlyn enjoys skiing, hiking, traveling, and exploring the outdoors.

Osa Oyegun

Grade 2 Blue

Osa is an experienced educator who has worked in Turkey, Germany, the U.A.E., and the U.S. Born to a Nigerian diplomat mother, she has also lived in India, Northern Cyprus, and the U.K. Osa's experiences as a Third Culture Kid have taught her adaptive skills that allow her to thrive and connect with others.


Completing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, Osa worked as a classical singer for over a decade. She discovered a passion for teaching, and graduated with a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction (M.Ed.), and a certificate in teaching English Language Learners. As a lifelong learner, Osa believes that she can have a positive impact on learners by building relationships, and developing comprehensive and inclusive curricula. 


In her spare time, Osa enjoys reading, singing, bringing projects to life, and spending time with her daughter.

Brittany Knechtel

Grade 3 Red

Brittany has a Bachelors in Elementary Education with a focus on Math and Literacy and a Masters from Michigan State University is in Language and Literacy Instruction. She has 6 years of experience teaching in Chiang Mai, Thailand as well as experience coaching varsity volleyball and basketball.  


She enjoys reading books and playing games as well as exploring new places.  

Crystal Pottebaum

Grade 3 Blue

Crystal Pottebaum grew up in Alton, Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa where she studied elementary education and Spanish teaching. After student teaching in Mumbai, India, Crystal knew she wanted to teach internationally, and AISA seemed to be the perfect fit. She is looking forward to being involved in the community, traveling around Africa and calling Abuja home while working at AISA. 

Sarah Christian

Grade 4 Red

Sarah Christian grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa where she studied Elementary Education and minored in literacy, math, and theatre. Miss Sarah taught 4th grade ELA last year in Clear Lake, Iowa. This will be her second year teaching and she could not be more thrilled that it will be at AISA. She has always wanted to teach in Africa and she is so glad that teaching at here is giving her that dream.


Sarah is excited to be joining this community and she looks forward to getting to know all her students, families, and learning about the Nigerian culture.

Julie Needham

Grade 4 Blue

Originally from Australia, Julie has spent the last twelve years of her twenty-eight year teaching career at Hong Kong Academy. Throughout her career, Julie has taught all grade levels from grade one through to grade eight and has a passion for ensuring learning is fun and that students come to school with a smile on their face.


She loves anything outdoors and is a keen gardener and camper.

Jade Carter

Grade 5 Red

Jade Carter was raised in Bangkok, Thailand where she graduated from the International School of Bangkok in 2008. After high school, she attended Kennesaw State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Early Childhood Development. She continued with her Education and earned a Masters Degree in Education from John Hopkins University and has 5 years of teaching experience in the USA.


When she has free time, she loves to go running, bike riding and watching HGTV.  She also loves cooking Indian and Thai food and doing yoga on weekends.

Cheryl Jurewich

Grade 5 Blue

Cheryl Jurewich was born and educated in Boston, Massachusetts.  She worked in inner-city Boston for eight years before moving to rural New Mexico, where she has been teaching for the last 13 years.  Miss Jurewich is excited by this opportunity to join the AISA community. She has a BA in Elementary Education from Emmanuel College and a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instructional Technology from Framingham State University. In her free time, Miss Jurewich likes to garden, arrange flowers, try new food/recipes and listen to music. She can't wait to share her knowledge with and learn from her fifth graders, as well as, the AISA community at large. 

Khenye Gager


Khenye Gager is from the United Kingdom. She studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design and the University of the Arts London. Before working in education, she worked as a professional artist and curator selling and producing Fine Art and Textiles. Since moving to Nigeria, Khenye has had seven exhibitions over the last three years and now enjoys sharing and teaching her passion at AISA. Khenye’s first impressions of the American International School Abuja was its community spirit and cultural diversity.

Ngozi Okafor

Elementary French Teacher

Ms. Okafor was born and raised in Paris, France and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Language French from Abia State University, a Post-graduate diploma in Education from Usman Dan Fodio University, and an advanced diploma in French Language Studies from Alliance Francaise Institute, Abuja. She is currently completing her Masters in Educational Admin with National Open University, Abuja. She has taught French for the past seven years in both elementary and secondary schools in Abuja and has worked with Noble Hall Leadership Academy for four years as a pioneer staff before coming to AISA. She was awarded leader of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Programme while at Noble Hall.

Keyu Iferi

ES Administrative Assistant

Ms Keyu Iferi joined Aisa in the 2015-2016 school year after her NYSC with the school. She grew up in Calabar, and she is from Cross-River State Nigeria. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from the University of Calabar and a certification in Customer Service and Relationship Management.

Uche Jonathan Ajoku

Elementary Music Instructor

Uche was born in Lagos, Nigeria and has taught Music in Lindy’s GEM foundation for the underprivileged in Lagos, Nigeria, and Awakings school, Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated from the Musical school of Nigeria MUSON, where he studied music and piano as his major instrument. Uche also won the Orpheus Award for keyboard proficiency and the  Akintola Williams award for Diligence and Progress, as he is skilled with different genres of music and musical instruments.

Uche has played for different Nigerian popular artists like Vector, Reminisce, MI, Ebisan, SLK, and comedians D Don, Omobaba, Lafup, and Accapella, along with many others.

When not in the classroom he enjoys practicing the piano and listening to music.
