AISA MUN at GQMUN, Doha, Qatar
Recently twelve of our Crocs attended Georgetown University’s Model United Nations (GQMUN) Conference in Doha, Qatar. During their four days at the conference, they became MUN delegates from all corners of the globe. Delegates participated in discussions with peers from over fifty schools within Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Our delegates debated, collaborated, and drafted resolutions on a variety of topics, some of which included: Myanmar’s Rohingya Crisis Xenophobia and persecution of Muslim minorities around the world Politicization of religious sites around the world Privatization of war Political stability in a post-Arab Spring Civil War in South Sudan Combating corruption in developing countries As our delegates worked tirelessly with their committees, many of AISA’s delegates were recognized among their committee chairs for their contribution to the growth and development towards combating the issues societies are facing. Out of our delegates, Jose Moriel-Arsenault was recognized by his committee chair and co-chair in being awarded an honorable mention during the closing ceremony. We want to extend our recognition for everyone who attended this year’s GQMUN Conference in Doha. In attending this conference, delegates were able to show everyone that AISA’s Crocs are striving towards the standards and expectations of what it means to be global citizen. Cheers to our AISA delegates!
