HS Art Visits The Moeshan Gallery
The Moeshen Gallery is a contemporary gallery filled with International, African and Nigerian artworks ranging from sculpture ,painting , modern graffiti approaches and mixed media. This past Wednesday, students explored the Moeshen Gallery and its humble beginnings that started with the collection of one art piece 21 years ago. Over time the gallery has accumulated a total of 4000 paintings, half of which are a private collection of the architect, civil engineer , art collector and owner of Moeshen Gallery, Mr Mohamad Khechen. Upon arrival Mr Khechen introduced Moeshen's history and permitted the exclusive viewing of the storage area of the art pieces housed. The modern and dynamic space of Moeshen allowed students to experience art at its finest and to analyse and respond to the enamoring pieces that they were surrounded by. During the exhibition we had guest artists Doofan Kwaghhool and Franklyn Enebeli unpack their art and provide some scope into their art processes/ materials. Overall an amazing experience for all that were part of this field trip and a reminder that the arts are a powerful tool. One that is not just a platform that encourages community , communication and culture but the goal for students to be global citizens and lifelong learners.
