Last weekend was fantastic for the students in AISA’s Blind School Club. We were able to fund the entry for the choir from the FCT School for the Blind to enter the Abuja National Choir Competition - and they won second place! None of the choir members from their school had ever sung in a competition before and the students were so excited about the opportunity!
AISA’s Blind School Club has been supporting these students for several years now, with projects ranging from the construction of bathrooms to the assistance with screening of the students by an opthamologist in the hopes of eventually funding operations to return sight to some of them.
This year, the project is branching out to include a musical partnership with the school, with the help of Mr. Blake Panting and Mr. Uche Ajoku. We will be donating some instruments to the school, and some of our band students will be teaching the blind students how to play them. In the end, we hope to have the blind students join us for our year-end concert. Keep an eye out for the concert date. You won’t want to miss it!
As the year goes on, we will have several fundraisers to raise money for the students’ operations. If you are interested in doing something to help us fund the operations, please contact me for details on the ways in which you can help.
Yours in Service,
