1 to 1 Technology

Our faculty are well versed in technology are committed to using technology educationally to help differentiate education and let students reach their highest potential. We focus on students not only consuming knowledge, but also harnessing the multitude of technology skills our students and teachers bring to the classroom to so that students can also see themselves as creators of ideas. To that end, all students have regular access to a devices. We have a set of ipads for every grade up to grade 3 where we start a 1:1 device plan for all students. Upper elementary students are each assigned their own ipad. Middle and high school students are assigned either Macbooks or Chromebooks. The students are encouraged to take these devices home in order to complete their school-work.

While many schools provide devices, there is rarely enough support and understanding to utilize them effectively. At AISA, we have 4 full-time members of our IT department to help students devices as well as a dedicated technology integrationist to help our teachers utilize technology to its fullest potential. Grades are accessible in real time via powerschool and parents can get regular updates about how their students are doing in class. Elementary grades maintain classroom communication through SeeSaw to let parents better understand what is happening in the classroom.

Examples of programs and projects utilizing technology and digital media at AISA:

  • Video documentaries

  • Audio interviews

  • Web based newspapers

  • Collaboration via shared documents in google

  • Using Skype to talk with people around the world

  • Using websites to assist with studying such as Quizlet.com

  • Creating clean, outstanding photo books and photo essays

  • Use of the green screens to make movies and enhance presentations

  • Creating class videos

In addition, AISA has a rigorous technology curriculum where students learn advanced skills through classes such as AP Technology and Robotics. We are planning on expanding this program next year to allow students even more opportunities to learn IT skills through a design program.

Most of our educators utilize technology in the daily lesson of students. In the middle and high school, assignments and course information is placed on google classroom to help students keep organized.
